Doç. Dr. KÜRŞAD DERİNKUYU Research Center Director
Kürşad Derinkuyu started at Ankara Science High School in 1994 and received his B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Bilkent University in 2002. He received his M.Sc. degree (ranked as 1st) from same department. Dr. Derinkuyu continued his graduate studies at Lehigh University and The University of Texas at Austin, and received his second M.Sc. degree (Management Science) in 2006 and Ph.D. degree (Operations Research and Industrial Engineering) in 2011 with 4.0 CGPAs. After graduation, he worked on Hacettepe University and he is currently working in Logistics Management Department of University of Turkish Aeronautical Association. He is also manager of Energy Markets Research Center at the same university. Dr. Derinkuyu developed software on target production planning tool of supply chain management system in AMD (Advance Micro Devices) and designed decision support systems for logistics planning of commodity transportation, yard-block-train relations, and railway maintenance in BNSF Railway. Furthermore, he developed forecasting and time series models for Enexis (Holland Electricity) and Aselsan (Turkish Defense) Companies. He is currently designing decision support systems and developing software for TEİAŞ (Turkish Electricity Transmission Company) about Electricity Markets under the National Code Principles. He is also director of Turkish Energy Foundation Energy Technologies and Sustainability Research Center. Dr. Derinkuyu’s studies concentrate on network design, scheduling, logistics, linear / quadratic robust optimization and mathematical programming in theory, and railways, electricity markets and renewable energy in practice. In particular, he is currently working on Day Ahead Electricity Market Design, Supply Security and Demand Forecasting, Energy Market Signals, Incentive Mechanism and Auction Analysis on Renewable Energy, and Natural Gas Market Designs.
Dr. FATİH CEMİL ÖZBUĞDAY Research Center Director
Fatih Cemil Özbuğday (Konya, 1983) received his B.Sc. degree in Business Administration (ranked as 1st) from Başkent University in 2006. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Economics from Bilkent University, a Master of Science degree in International Economics and Finance, and a Research Master degree in Economics from Tilburg University. From 2009 to 2013 he was a PhD researcher at Tilburg University. As of May 2013, he has been serving as an assistant professor of Economics at Yıldırım Beyazıt University, where he teaches at both graduate and undergraduate level. In 2008, Dr. Özbuğday worked as a research associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers Amsterdam (Economics, Strategy and Valuation department). In 2011-2012, he was a visiting researcher at the Centre for Competition Policy of University of East Anglia. He was also a member of Tilburg Law and Economics Center and an external researcher at the Office of the Chief Economist of the Netherlands Competition Authority between 2009 and 2012. Dr. Özbuğday’s main specialization field is competition and regulatory economics. He has been involved in various projects concerning competition and regulatory issues and his papers have appeared in international journals. Currently, his interests are energy efficiency, competition in electricity retailing and, risk perception and investment in energy markets.
Doç. Dr. FEHMİ TANRISEVER Research Center Director
Fehmi Tanrisever was born in Ankara, Turkey on 9 December 1980. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey in 2002. After graduation, he joined the Operations Research and Industrial Engineering program at the University of Texas at Austin and received his Master of Science degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering in 2004. Subsequently, he entered the PhD program in Supply Chain and Operations Management at the McCombs School of Business and received his PhD in 2009. After receiving his PhD, he worked an assistant professor of Operations Management and Finance at the Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences Department at Eindhoven University of Technology until 2013. Since September 2013, he is an assistant professor of Operations Management at Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey.
SERHAN ÜNAL Research Center Director
Serhan ÜNAL completed his undergraduate education at Bilkent University Department of International Relations, received his MSc. degree from Middle East Technical University and still continues his doctoral studies at the same university. Energy, political economy of natural resources, notion of power in international relations and green theory are among his fields of study. He has several articles published and two book chapters.
Esen ERKAN Director of Communications & Reporter
Esen ERKAN completed her undergraduate studies at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. She received her M.S. degree from Media and Cultural Studies Department at Middle East Technical University. Since 2012, she has been working as a reporter for various news portal of energy sector and writing newws for Energy Panorama magazine since 2013. She is currently studying for a M.S. in Urban Policy Planning And Local Governments at METU.
